I started this store because I believe the coffee you drink every morning deserves more thought than grabbing whatever's on the grocery store shelf. Specialty coffee is a different world, and I want to bring that world to you.
What "Specialty Grade" Actually Means
The Specialty Coffee Association grades coffee on a 100-point scale based on factors like aroma, flavor, aftertaste, acidity, body, and balance. Only coffees that score 80 points or above earn the "specialty" designation.
That might sound technical, but what it means in your cup is simple: you can taste the difference. Specialty coffee has distinct, complex flavors — notes of fruit, chocolate, citrus, or floral tones — that mass-market coffee just doesn't have.
At B's Great Coffee and Tea, we only carry coffees that meet this standard. No fillers, no blends designed to hide low-quality beans. Just coffee that earned its place in your cup.
Traceability: Knowing Where Your Coffee Comes From
One of the things I care most about is traceability — knowing exactly where a coffee comes from. Not just the country, but the region, the farm, and sometimes even the specific lot or harvest.
Why does this matter? Because traceability means accountability. When a roaster or supplier can tell you exactly where a coffee originated, it means they've built real relationships with the farmers who grew it. It means the coffee was handled with care at every step of the supply chain.
It also means you can connect with the story behind your cup — whether that's a small family farm in Ethiopia's Yirgacheffe region, a cooperative in Colombia's Huila department, or a single-estate farm in Guatemala.
Freshness Is Everything
Coffee is at its best within a few weeks of roasting. After that, it starts to lose the volatile compounds that give it its complex flavor. This is why we work with suppliers who prioritize freshness — so what arrives at your door is as close to peak flavor as possible.
We don't stock warehouses full of coffee sitting for months. We keep our selection focused and curated so that every product we offer is something we're genuinely proud to put our name on.
